1797, seventeen year old Jonas Wesfeld finds his life rapidly changing as he has left his life of a peasant laborer to become a “Guardian”, an assassin’s assassin. A secret society that Jonas has no knowledge of, is shaping his life to be able to protect the young exiled king of Alsaunce, living in the kingdom of Bournia. During his training as a Guardian, Jonas becomes involved with the royal life of Bournia, which poses as much a challenge to understand royal etiquette as it is to learn the skills of being a Guardian. Jonas’s status is implied that of a nobleman or prince which entangles Jonas in many encounters with both privileged young ladies and princesses. Jonas also finds himself caught up in a possible overthrow of the kingdom of Frakzenkia, his homeland.
