Description

This is a collection of 15 poems taken from various points in Rich Evans’ poetry career. ‘Shadowboxing the Past’ sees the first time when they have all been available in one place. The collection is a mix: long poems; short poems; abstract poetry; rhyming poetry, and then some poems which have formed the basis of songs that have subsequently been recorded and released. The poems contained here are effectively standalones; they are not thematically linked. Rather, they run the full gamut of human emotions: heartbreak; loss; regret; longing, and worries for the future to name but a few. If you like what you read here, then please explore the sister publication – ‘Ostler’s Ford by Lamplight’ – a poetry play for voices inspired by ‘Under Milk Wood.’
